Swans Community Trust Partners with JCP Swansea Half Marathon

The Swans Community Trust is the latest charity to partner with the JCP Swansea Half Marathon 2016.

The Trust, which is Swansea City AFC’s registered charity, has been announced as the race’s Community Charity partner for next year’s marathon.

The race, held on 26 June, is also partnering with the likes of Cancer Research UK, Help for Heroes and the British Heart Foundation and since its inception three years ago, it has become one of the top 10 half marathons in the country.

The announcement comes during the Trust’s #HealthyTogether campaign, where fans and followers are being encouraged to adopt healthier lifestyles through regular exercise and eating a balanced diet

As the event’s Community Charity partner, participants can now sign up to run for Swans Community Trust and pledging to raise £100 in the process.

These funds will help to fund a number of sports, education and health projects that improve lifestyles of individuals and families within communities in South West Wales.

Linden Jones, the Trust Manager for the charity, said, “We are thrilled to become an official Charity Partner for the half marathon. It’s fast become one of Wales’ most anticipated fitness events and as well as helping to raise much needed funds for the Trust, it will encourage more people in our communities to start leading a healthier lifestyle and become more active, which is one of the charity’s main goals.”

David Martin-Jewell, Race Director said, “I am delighted to announce Swans Community Trust as our Community Charity Partner for 2016. The work the Trust undertakes across the entire Swansea Bay region, supporting a wide and varied range of projects and schemes, is tremendous.

“Both SHM and the Trust want to help improve the health and wellbeing of as many people in and around Swansea as possible. We feel that this partnership will assist us in spreading our collective message and achieving this goal.”

The race starts in the atmospheric heart of the city centre before hitting the beautiful vista of Swansea Bay and taking in breath-taking views along the way, and you can now sign up to at: www.swansacademy.co.uk/Swansea-Half-Marathon-2016 to get your unique code before redeeming it at www.swanseahalfmarathon.co.uk.
